Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday permitted a proposal to order 10 per cent of the job vacancies within the defence ministry for ‘Agniveers’ who meet requisite eligibility standards.

The approval to the proposal comes amid mounting protests in opposition to the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment scheme for defence companies that was introduced on Tuesday.

“The ten per cent reservation can be applied within the Indian Coast Guard and defence civilian posts, and all of the 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings,” Singh’s workplace mentioned.

It mentioned this reservation could be along with the present quota for ex-servicemen.

“Crucial amendments to related recruitment guidelines can be undertaken to implement these provisions,” the defence minister’s workplace tweeted.

“Defence Public Sector Undertakings can be suggested to make comparable amendments to their respective recruitment guidelines. Crucial age rest provision can even be made,” it mentioned.
