Indian Naval Air Squadron 324 was commissioned into the Indian Navy within the presence of Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta,  Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Japanese Naval Command at a formidable Commissioning Ceremony held at INS Dega, Visakhapatnam on 04 Jul 22. The unit is the primary Naval Squadron on the Japanese Seaboard working the indigenously designed and constructed Superior Mild Helicopter (ALH) MK III (MR) helicopters.

INAS 324 has been named “KESTRELS” that are birds of prey and have good sensory capabilities symbolising the envisaged function of the Plane and the Air Squadron. The Insignia of the Squadron depicts a ‘KESTREL’ looking over huge blue and white sea waves, which signifies the integral Maritime Reconnaissance (MR) and Search and Rescue (SAR) function of the Squadron.

ALH MK III helicopters are fitted with state-of-the-art tools which incorporates trendy surveillance radar and electro-optical sensors.
